Well, it points to the latest available Windows version. But seriously, you are right: the windows version of KMyMoney is always behind. Apparently, noone got the time to work on it. FYI: this project is developed on/for Linux operating systems and supporting other OSes is a spin-off. If someone knows of a maintainer for that we are open to hear from them. <quote> Windows Users shall get the newest available version (here, different major version leads to 'frustation' (Windows as 2nd class citizen client)) </quote> Hmm, this is what usually happens to Linux users. Oh and btw, I would not call it a 'different major version' when we talk about a maintenance release from 5.0.6 to 5.0.7 :) Thanks Thomas for your comment, but apparently I was not clear: - Latest available version for Windows is 5.0.6 - Why does the Website Homepage points to version 4.8.4 ? According to semantic versioning, there is a major version change between 4.8.4 and 5.0.6. For reference, this thread provide info regarding how KDE applications are ported to other platforms than Linux: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=151541&sid=5b1c957a9ffdac1ce20e10e76daaa4ea Sorry, I was looking at the "Windows MinGW 32/64bit (cross compiled)" which points to 5.0.6. You are right: from 4.8 to 5.0 is a major step. Information is available and people have provided builds for Windows in the past. This happened on a rather irregular basis, though. Building the project is not just a press of a button but a more complex operation. So we need resources/people who can do and maintain that. Do you know anyone? So your desire for a Windows installer version is more of a wish than a bug :) and believe me, I do understand your frustration. Thomas, I think we are discussing about two things completly different :-) I don't wish anything else than the homepage of kmymoney.org pointing the latest available Windows version :-) If the version exists, why it is not advertised on the website? Regarding building the windows version of the project, I write you directly, this bug report is not the right place. I updated the keyword to reflect that. website has been fixed |
