This is certainly a UX issue, I'd really like to see this implemented. So in a way this bug report is now resolved with the introduction of the selection mode feature in Dolphin 22.12. It allows multi-selection by first entering selection mode through a long press (https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/commit/71ea4a88d890949500d05aa21839ad93ec6bdb1d) and then tapping the files one wants to select. There are unfortunately multiple feature requests in this bug report which makes things confusing. I don't think we should implement all of the exact behaviours mentioned above. Single-tap to open a file or folder isn't inherently wrong. I agree that we most definitely want 2 finger swipe for scroll. The context menu is now integrated into the selection mode. I'll mark this as resolved because, for one, the bug of the title of the bug report has been fixed and secondly because the situation has fundamentally changed with today's release. Feel free to re-report aspects of this bug report that still persist with the latest version. |
