SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open Digikam
2. preview mp4 file (e.g. as produced by HandBrake or Samsung mobile phones)
3. turn on speakers or headphones

OBSERVED RESULT
No audio

EXPECTED RESULT
Audio

mp4 files play fine with VLC and other players (and on smartphones).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS: Linux KDE Neon 18.04 (all updates applied), Digikam 6.2 git-20190509.

This problem has existed since 6.0 release as far as I remember. It is not new. I was hoping it would go away with 6.1 but it did not.

The AppImage currently has a reduced number of audio codecs compared to my native version. Gilles will, if he has time again, check what's wrong with compiling FFmpeg.

New bundle AppImage completely rewritten under Mageia6 (instead Cento6) is
available at usual place for testing :
