SUMMARY

When attempting to select by rectangular area the screen is corrupted, and the GUI completely locks up.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Choose "Select by Area" followed by "Take new screenshot"
2.

OBSERVED RESULT

Very funky looking screen - see attachment #1 [details]
GUI is now unresponsive - it's necessary to switch to a VT and reboot!
Spectacle also seems to be spamming the log files when this happens - see attachment #2 [details]

A successful screenshot of the selected area.

Ah! Disn't realize when I typed "Attachment #1 [details]" bugzilla referenced attachments.

Yep, I know the issue. Thankfully, it was fixed by the Rectangular Region rewrite in 19.04!
