These are separate X11 windows (or Wayland surfaces). Please also disable window manager animations. I see. I had to disable “System Settings/Workspace/Desktop Behavior/Desktop Effects/Fading Popups”. This effect was probably introduced or factored out of another effect in the last major KDE release because I did not have this behavior before. In my opinion – at least in case of the combo box – this is not the intuitive place to look at if one does not know the technical background. Maybe it helps to add a note in the configuration dialog of the widget style. Another solution might be to move the “Desktop Effects” configuration into the Appearance category. Re-tested and these issues are all fixed now with the shiny central animation duration control in System Settings |
