Good news: MTP was substantially improved (rewritten really) in KDE APplications 18.12 to fix this issue!

How do I update to the latest version if I am on Kubuntu 18.10?
sudo apt update and sudo apt full-upgrade tells me I am up to date. Do I need to wait for 19.04?

(K)Ubuntu is a discrete release distro, so for the most part, you don't. Waiting for 19.04 is probably your best bet, but if you can't wait, you can always build from source (https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/development#Applications; make sure to build kio-extras as well as Dolphin) or try the Flatpak nightly build of Dolphin (https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Flatpak#Applications)if you can't wait.

Thanks dude for your support and time.

I will just wait when 19.04 is out, I am still a novice user who likes minimal packages installed. Will donate to KDE project in the future :)
