STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Application Launcher.
2. Hover over any tab.
3. Search for some app.
4. Remove all characters from previous search.
5. Search for some app again.

OBSERVED RESULT
Contents of previously hovered tab appears without visible bottom tabs

EXPECTED RESULT
Search results appear

Can confirm those exact steps to reproduce. The issue appears to predate the the recent unified mousearea patch.

Bug persists in plasma 5.15 beta. :(
