I quite liked Windows 7's calendar popup that included an analog clock *with seconds* in the popup. There isn't a lot of free space there. There's ~15 chars, some language is bound to have a month name near that long. I'm willing to look into ideas of places where seconds could be shown, if it's useful. However, I don't think the proposed place works and I get really put off by use of the phrase "why not" when it comes to adding things. > There's ~15 chars, some language is bound to have a month name near that long. I haven't thought of that. > However, I don't think the proposed place works and I get really put off by use of the phrase "why not" when it comes to adding things. You are right, the usage phrase "why not" was not a good choice in this context. For reference, there has been another request for this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408410 At least Microsoft has done it in Windows 7 and is still showing it in Windows 10 (now digital only, which I prefer from a design perspective): https://winaero.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Windows-10-Calendar-flyout.png That can also be a source of inspiration. I noticed that currently there is some redundant information displayed which could maybe be reduced. With changing the layout there will hopefully be enough space for time with seconds. See attached screenshot. Created attachment 129265 [details]
Current date popup with some redundancy
Kind of unrelated, but it might be useful to take into consideration the possibility of showing multiple times/clocks when opening the calendar, for people who might depend a lot on knowing the time on multiple timezones (countries). Would you be interested in such an option? You could create a bug for it and reference it. Linking file that (probably) is containing the layout and needs to be adjusted: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/applets/digital-clock/package/contents/ui/CalendarView.qml Fixed in the latest version. Oops, wrong bug, sorry. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 408410 *** |
