The problem was discussed here: Bug 396086. The bug report is actually about something different, look at the last comedies. Maik comedies -> comments ((:-)) Maik *** Bug 397405 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** There are few changes in AppImage which can introduce this dysfunction : 1/ Qt 5.9.3 => Qt5.9.6. I'm not sure if this really the source of this problem. I can upgrate to Qt 5.11.1 to see if the result is better, but this can take a while to configure and compile. 2/ KF5 5.41 => KF5 5.45. I feel this change can have side-effects with KXMLGUI framework from KDE. I currently finalize to upgrade to last KF5 5.49 to see if problem is fixed. This way is more easy to installing Qt 5.11.1 3/ As i can reproduce this dysfunction under Mageia6 while running the 6.0.0 beta AppImage, i tried to found a quick fix. Magically, deleting the digikam rc file and restarting digiKam has fixed the problem. Of course, you will lost all the GUI settings, but at least the dysfunction go out. The ~/.config/digikamrc file is generated by KXMKGUI framework... do you feel the bug ? Gilles Caulier I tested the solution of deleting the digikamrc file and then restart digiKam and I can say that it works. KDE Neon user edition 5.13.4 (still 16.04 LTS). Thanks Gilles! But it is not persistent: closing and starting up again digikam the empty space reappears.... Interresting because for me it do not re appear... But at lest, we know that th problem is located in session backup of GUI, probably a size of the thumbnails view If you move the thumb bar on the right or left side of icon view and restarting digikam, it still reproducible ? Sorry Sir but I don't understand "move the thumb bar on the right or left side of icon view". I don't know how to do this. Can you explain to me it more clear? (In reply to paravano.marco from comment #8) > (In reply to caulier.gilles from comment #7) > > Interresting because for me it do not re appear... > > > > But at lest, we know that th problem is located in session backup of GUI, > > probably a size of the thumbnails view > > > > If you move the thumb bar on the right or left side of icon view and > > restarting digikam, it still reproducible ? > > I've moved the thumb bar beside the thumbnails view and closed digikam. At restart it works fine (no empty space). ok. And now replace the thumbbar on the top. Restart digiKam and look the result... Gilles Caulier in digikamrc file, we can see 2 lines from MainWindow section: SplitterState=...blabla1... ThumbbarState=...blabla2... These lines are used to encode position en size of thumbbar and the separator between thumbbar and icon-view. Probably the algorithm used to serialize/deserialize these data is affected by a change in KF5 or Qt5. Gilles Caulier (In reply to caulier.gilles from comment #10) > ok. And now replace the thumbbar on the top. Restart digiKam and look the > result... > > Gilles Caulier Everything gone ok. I think the empty space was due to the fact that digikam thumbnail dock is not automatically displayed. At the start in fact the thumbnail is not displayed and this is the reason that there is the empty space. Just right click on the empty space and flag on the thumbnail dock: the empty space is replaced by the thumbnail dock. There is a big chance that this bug have been introduced by this one : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395988 Fixed in last KF5 5.49 Gilles Caulier *** Bug 399237 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** digikam-6.0.0-beta1-20180926T221226-x86-64.appimage Removing digikamrc helped only temporarily - the issue with a blank area in Thumbnail view reappeared again after a few starts of digikam (not sure what was the trigger). Playing with thumbnail dock location (displaying via righ-click and dragging by mouse to left) did not help either - in one case I even had the thumbnails bar on the left and an empty space on top. Can confirm that removing the SplitterState and ThumbbarState lines from the ~/.config/digikamrc file temporally solves the issue, but that empty space reappears after a couple of restarts. The issue is still there. http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digiKam-users-Space-reserved-for-Thumbbar-td4706924.html The new test AppImage bundle 6.0.0-beta2 64 bits is just uploaded at https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Internal update : new Qt 5.9.7 and KF5 5.51. Problem still reproducible ? Gilles Caulier Seems okay for me. Tried in my Ubuntu 18.04 laptop and that empty space is not there now. Seems to work for me at least. Perfect. Thanks fo the feedback. I suspect that dysfunction was introduced in KF5::KXMLGui API with previous 5.49 update. |
Created attachment 114194 [details] Empty space on center top. I noticed in the last update that there's an empty space on the top center of the screen when viewing pictures in thumbnail view. It is the same size as picture "strip" in preview mode. See the screenshot. I am using the last snapshot of the 6.0 version of digikam (digikam-6.0.0-git-20180727T191451-x86-64.appimage) on ubuntu 16.10.
