Does this issue still happen? I tested with kwrite and I got no crashes (note that I don't have any samba shares). Sorry, but after all this time I am neither using KDE nor Samba anymore. I also do not have the time to run a test setup. Just mark this as closed. No problem, thanks for taking the time to post here anyway. There is something you could help me with, though. This happens on my desktop and notebook as well. Steps to reproduce, example in VLC: 1. Open VLC Media Player 2. Select "Media" -> "Open file" 3. Select "Network" 4. Select "Samba Shares" --> Application crashes. Error Message (from VLC): [user@host ~]$ vlc VLC media player 3.0.0-rc9 Vetinari (revision 3.0.0-rc8-126-g42d1278b7a) [000055f4bb0fc330] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface.
