Each version of KMail comes from a different backend: one from PackageKit (your distro's source of packages) and the other from Flatpak, Snap, or another source that you configured, Duplicate entries appear because their AppStream IDs don't match, so Discover can't collapse them into one entry. Start discover 2. Enter kmail in the search field and press search 3. There are now two identical kmail apps What I expected 1. Start discover 2. Enter kmail in the search field and press search 3. There are now one kmail and other related apps
