When clicking a link to a page that requires logging in, I receive a 403 error or am redirected to the home page. Right clicking and copy-pasting the URL works.

I have that problem too with deep links to members-only websites. The underlying problem seems to be (my guess) that kmail itself or some kde component actually opens the link, then of course it has no login cookies and gets redirected to the login page. This login page url is what gets forwarded to the browser, and not the deep link. Whereas some websites can recover from that, as they include the original deeplink in the login url, many others can't.

What would be expected: Kmail should not touch, process, or open the link in any way, it simply should forward the URL to the browser configured in the system.
