Are you sure it's konsole 2.10.5? because that seems like a really ancient version... I tested with a recent master git snapshot and I could extend the selection with shift+left click. Created attachment 110548 [details] image001.png I started the Konsole that appears in the menu that appears when I right click the background. I did not install any other Konsole.
