Start akregator with the option
'KDE Settings' -> 'Application Style' ->  'Widget Style' ->  'Fine Tuning'  -> 'Menubar Style' set to 'Title Bar Button'

-> akregator crashes on startup

The backtrace from the referenced Archlinux topic is bug 378513, but yours might be different.
