Description Andres Betts 2017-11-05 22:39:25 UTC
Given the widespread use of the word emoji, I propose the change from "Emoticons" to "Emojis" in System Settings.

Hmm, I wish we could now but IMHO this would do more harm than good at this stage in the game, because we don't yet have real, actual, full systemwide Emoji support like they do in GNOME and macOS. I don't think we should do this until then, to avoid confusing and frustrating our users.
Comment 2 Nate Graham 2017-11-21 16:30:44 UTC
Correction: we have support for *displaying* Emoji of course (they're just unicode), but don't yet have a UI for typing them. Once we've got that, I think it makes sense to change the name here.

Not all themes support the complete Unicode Emoji range. On my system, only "EmojiOne" does, all others only support Emoticons.

This KCM was removed in the transition from Plasma 5.19.5 to 5.20.0 https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/commit/3cd728de38b771c84c0cfdf68eac84715637e76f
