On the open window (from Import ) i can no longer select my apple /Volumes/EOS_DIGITAL folder because there is no visible /Volumes folder anymore. 
Is it possible that version 5.6.0 showed hidden folders and version 5.7.0 doesn't anymore?

We only used the Qt file dialog in digiKam-5.7.0. In digiKam-5.8.0 the system file dialog can now be activated again in the digiKam settings. Please test the digiKam pre-release from here: https://files.kde.org/digikam/

I just rebuild the 5.8.0 pre release PKG installer for MacOS. Please try with this version to see if problem is reproducible :

Not reproducible with 6.0.0
