I tried to save an image as a .jpg file and it has been frozen for more than 10 minutes. Whenever I try to quit the Krita program it says "cannot quit while trying to save." I am using the program on a MacPro laptop with the latest software update (MacOS Sierra Version 10.12.6).

If you have a Radeon graphics card, then it's likely that one bug that is (unintentionally) fixed on the development version of 4.0. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369014

Hi, 

This is a known problem on macOS Sierra systems with an AMD gpu. For Krita 4.0, we've got a workaround, with krita 3.x, you'll have to disable opengl in settings/configure krita/display.
