Details: After switching the spell check setting to British English, applications e.g. Kate, Kile are able to find those words in the dictionary however they are still marked as misspelled.

Sorry but I couldn't see why it was a duplicate? My issue doesn't involve adding custom words to user dictionary, which is the main idea of bug 387729. Am I missing some insights?

Could you please suggest how I could get this issue confirmed? I can still reproduce this issue with Plasma 5.14.4 and Kate 18.12.0.

If you have the "auto detection of language" option enabled, then it's a duplicate, but of bug 386611. Could you test?
