Which other application? That version of Okular is kdelibs4-based, maybe you are using the Qt5 version of Dolphin? gwenview and kate each in version 16.08.3 (compiled again Qt 5.7.1). Does it still happens to you with a recent copy of okular? With Versión 1.6.70, KDE Frameworks 5.53.0, Qt 5.11.2 and xcb it works for me.
