Apparently the LCDFilter is only necessary for distros (like openSUSE) that use some ClearType subpixel renderer. Distros like Arch still use FreeType's own product, which doesn't struggle with color fringing and what's more toggling the lcdfilter is actually useless. Taking that into account, distros that need it should probably turn it on themselves. |
