The test project consists of one title clip.

Win64 v16.12.1
I receive above message when I open many of my projects. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the source of the problem. So I attach a reduced project.

I have to click OK on that message to continue. Then a backup project is created EACH TIME, even after re-saving the project.
In preview the title clip shows 4 lines. But when I open title clip editor there are many blank lines in between.

Please try with the actual Kdenlive version 18.08.2
Comment 2 Phuoc 2018-10-23 11:46:44 UTC
Tested on v18.08.2 (Windows10).
"Clip Problems" still popping up. Backup still saved and the blank lines persist.

scrolling Title

Something with your title font or how do you have built your title is wrong. I assume you like to have a scrolling title. I upload and example. Is that what you want on the end?
Comment 4 Phuoc 2018-10-25 22:37:07 UTC
No, I don't know anything about scrolling title. If I do that I would add the pan&zoom effect on it :-)
I'm already used to those message popups when I open an existing project. I simply click them away without reading hahaha

If the title clip is broken the preview should show the blank lines, too. But they only appear in title editor.
Those blank lines in a multiple lines text block only appear if the project has been saved before and reopen.
Since I never had this problem on Linux before. I highly suspect that we are dealing with the traditional DOS \n\r issue :-)

Yes you are right it’s “the traditional DOS \n\r issue”. In an editor I exchange all “<” with “<” and delete all “” (see uploaded Test1). Then Kdenlive could load the file without problem.
So you work first on Linux and take the Kdenlive file and opened it under Kdenlive Windows?
How can this be avoided?
Comment 6 emohr 2018-10-30 16:05:29 UTC
Problem confirmed. When I create and save a project on Linux and open the saved kdenlive file on Windows this Bug appears.

This local UTF-8 issue was solved with version 20.08.

Feel free to reopen this bug or create a new report if this is still happening with the latest version (https://kdenlive.org/en/download/)

Tested with the (initially) attached project on v20.12.0, same issue.
But I think that's a legacy problem. Old project has been created incorrectly:
```
Miracast
and
HDMI to VGA</content>
```
After removing the blank lines in the title editor and re-saving, it's all good.
The only annoying part is if this is in a library. But... there's a workaround, clean the redundant characters in a text editor.
