You should definitely change to version 5 in general. Philip maintains a Ubuntu PPA https://launchpad.net/~philip5/+archive/ubuntu/extra/ or you always find the most recent version at https://www.digikam.org/download To check this specific issue, please try to reproduce the issue with the pre-release Appimage from https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzeiVr-byqt5Y0tIRWVWelRJenM Just download the file, make it executable and execute it. digiKam 5.5.0 is released officially https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/ ...and new 5.6.0 pre-release as bundle is available here : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzeiVr-byqt5Y0tIRWVWelRJenM Please check if this problem still reproducible with these versions.
