Description Najjar 2017-02-04 21:42:15 UTC
In the previous module (=<5.8.5) there were Connect and Disconnect buttons in the NM Connection Editor, which were very useful.

The NM applet sometimes was buggy, "forgetting" to display VPN connections after connecting to a network, or a Wi-Fi profile not visible in the menu. Or simply changing settings, then connecting/disconnecting from the same window.

Now we're stuck with the same "forgetfulness" that sometimes occurs, with no recourse. And editing the connections has an additional unnecessary step (edit a connection from a window; then go to another area of the desktop, connect, then click again to bring up the applet to disconnect; go to the taskbar and select the editor's window again to make more changes... and the cycle goes on)

Connect/disconnect buttons are still present, but in the context menu if you click on your connection with the right mosue button. I know it can be difficult for someone to spot them, but given that the primary function of the editor is to change your connection I didn't make those buttons visible in the main UI.

Ya I see them now. That works too

The connect/disconnect in the context menu is very unintuitive. The toolbar with add, remove, and edit buttons should also contain the connect and disconnect buttons (two buttons, one of them disabled).

I'm reopening this bug after a small discussion with the community at reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/sycuom/adding_connect_disconnect_button_in_network/

Here's a reason copied from reddit:
"The applet in settings feels incomplete without a connect disconnect option. For example, if I wanted to add a vpn connection, I had to add the vpn connection in the settings, then come to the system tray and then test whether my settings work.
Its true that for some users (including the old me :P) , the idea that they would find the vpn connections in the system tray itself may be foreign and hence feel lost after adding a connection. May be adding vpn connection is not something a fresh user would do but still a visible button in the settings will feel a lot more friendlier. Or at least, that's my take on this!"

My suggestion is to add a connect/disconnect button similar to the one in system tray next to the connection name.
