(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kmail
Version: 1.3.2 (using KDE 2.2.2 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: ALT Linux
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (ALT Linux build 2.96-ipl14mdk)
OS: Linux (i586) release 2.4.17
OS/Compiler notes:

This report appears due to situation described below

I have a wide tree of folders in Kmail and several profilesi.e. my folder tree contain for ex. folder "inbox-specific" 5 or 6 subfolders under it (i.e.inbox-specific/1 inbox-specific/2 ... etc) then subfolders under some of this subfolders etc.

And now decide to apply different profiles to my folders tree.

When I do it I see that if I apply for example "Specific profile" to folder "Inbox-specific" on level 2 it doesn't applyed to subfolder tree under this folder - i.e. "default profile" stay applying to them. So I had to apply this profile to all subtree manually.

I think that it will be better if applying some specific profile (as other features in "folder/properities dialog) can be applyed recursively i.e. some radio-button as "apply to all subfolders" will be in folders/properities dialog.

In another words the behavior must be as in analogical "properities" dialog in Konqueror.

Best regards
George

i would greatly appreciate seeing this feature, as handling several identities and several imap trees is at the moment a bit anoying.
I'd like to see a "apply recursively" checkbox in the folder properties dialog, to get the identity i use for one inbox applied to all of its subfolders.

regards,
Markus

I just want to point out that upon creation of a subfolder the properties of this new subfolder are now (resp. in KDE 3.2) preset with the properties of the parent folder.

Of course, this doesn't help if you want to change properties of already existing folder trees.

I'd rate this as a bug, not a wishlist. I also have a very large mail tree on an IMAP server, and setting up a new KMail (on a new laptop, on a new desktop) is a real hassle, I have to manually go to properties of each folder and do manual work -> the UI is not helping me with an "apply recursive" option, so the UI is bad and I waste a lot of time -> very frustrating
