Confirmed. Something fishy going on there. This is a KTextEditor bug, though. A workaround that I've found was to remove the two files ~/.kde/share/config/kateschemarc ~/.config/kateschemarc Perhaps your kateschemarc is located elsewhere, such as under ~/.kde4 Search for it (them)! and replace it (them both) by copying the default kateschemarc that should be located in /usr/share/config I found the solution at http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/209623/how-to-reset-kate-default-color-schemes -- credit where credit is due. Can you try if you have any issues with the current nightly installers for Windows on https://kate-editor.org/get-it ? If you can provide the information requested in comment #3, please add it.
