Are you using normal images as wallpapers? p.s. If you create a new user, does it show black thumbs for it as well? (In reply to Ivan Čukić from comment #2) > p.s. Yes, just the std wallpapers already available in Maui by default, + some others downloaded via the std kde tool "Get new wallpapers...". I created a new user, created therein a 2nd Activity, & switched back & forth between the two. The A/M's thumbnails stayed blank black for both, just like in my "real" user account, & also in a VM for testing. As i said originally, this fault was NOT present in 5.7.5; it came with 5.8.0. Good luck -- i do hope you can identify & solve the root cause. I've installed Maui in a virtual machine and upgraded to 5.8. This issue is caused by mixed files from different versions. Namely, /usr/share/default-settings/plasma5-profile/plasma/shells/org.kde.plasma.desktop/contents/activitymanager is from an old Plasma version, while the backend is new.
