Can you check the version of your shared-mime-info package? dpkg -s shared-mime-info | grep Version If neon has the same version (1.5) that xenial has, which is very likely, then you are affected by this bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93549 Your best bet is to open a bug against the ubuntu's shared-mime-info package and ask them to backport this bugfix: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xdg/shared-mime-info/commit/?id=10fc17ec61c5b5c6c0e6ea2c8d7a2123271d07e3 :( yep shared-mime-info=1.5, so package bug since this is already fixed.
