This is not really related to kholidays, but is a (much-awaited) change in Plasma's calendar applet to show holidays (using kholidays) and other events again like in KDE4. The "problem" you report has already been "fixed", in 5.7.1 that "agenda view" will be hidden if no event plugins are enabled.
