Attachments: Result of a Krunner dictionary service invocation

Description Hamidreza Jafari 2016-07-08 21:11:51 UTC
Krunner performs unpredictably when invoked to define a dictionary term. When it randomly responds to keystrokes it returns a definition but it is only a few words.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hit alt+space.
2. Enter: define hello
3. Wait to see if it brings answers

Actual Results:
Krunner sometimes responds to keystrokes and returns definitions, other times no responses at all.

Expected Results:
It should always return available definitions in a fully readable manner (full view of the definition).

Result of a Krunner dictionary service invocation
Comment 2 Hamidreza Jafari 2016-12-17 19:55:07 UTC
Upgraded to 16.10 and it seems it takes time to fetch info from the net hence illusion of no response if late. Anyway it is not possible for me to reproduce the bug with the new environment and has not been bugged by others, so I will close it. But where is the close fix?

I'm sorry, but this does not work for me and has not for quite some time. (I often try it out to see if it has started working.) I'm on KDE Neon running plasma 5.10.3.

You should wait for some seconds for the very limited hints to appear. You might also have a different "define" keyword. Check your options of Krunner.
Comment 5 Michael D 2017-07-07 08:39:21 UTC
Well, I waited for about 60 seconds, which should suffice to return something. Also, I had already changed my keyword to 'dic', and still nothing.
Comment 6 Hamidreza Jafari 2017-07-07 13:44:22 UTC
There are many out there happily using a "d" for ease of use. Check your environment for defects.
Comment 7 Michael D 2017-07-07 13:50:19 UTC
Well, I'm not sure what to check, so I suppose I should report a bug to Neon or Ubuntu about it in any case, because I can't recall it ever having worked on Neon.
