Hi, with my new Fedora 24 there is no firewire support anymore! I updated from Fedora 22, there everything works fine. dvgrab also works fine, only kdenlive cannot capture from firewire. Please help! Regards Martin Hi Unfortunately after the upgrade to KF5, firewire capture was not ported. The team is currently with very limited manpower and this isn't in the roadmap at the moment. Cheers Created attachment 100970 [details] attachment-6211-0.html Please get it back in when you are able. As you know, there are few options to import from firewire in Linux. The command line option is there but is unruly to setup. The only other option I have seen is an old editing program called "Lives", however, I have been unable to make that work so far. And Kino only does standard definition. As Andrew mentioned, Kino is not maintained anymore and so the only workaround at the moment is dvgrab. But with this I can not see in realtime what is recorded. Do you have another idea what program to use for that task? The last solution would be to use Windows ... Best regards Martin Created attachment 100971 [details] attachment-8956-0.html I was hoping there would be a path to down grade back to version 0.9.10 just to be able to use the firewire capture. I am having trouble finding a package with all the dependencies included. The roadmap has been set with many new powerful features are coming. So firewire has to be a community-lead effort (maybe through a bounty...). If you'd like I can try to help you by spreading the word in the website and other official channels, but you must start and organize this effort. You can always use dvgrab to capture your tapes. Cheers Hi Farid, ok - I understand that a few people cannot do all work. I use dvgrab now, and try to view the film directly with vlc. vlc is about one second behind, it's not perfect but works after a fashion. The only reason to use kdenlive (after kino had died) was that it could grab from firewire - so there is no special reason for me to use it in future. Will see ... Nevertheless, thanks and regards Martin Created attachment 101254 [details] attachment-19243-0.html If you are not going to support firewire anymore, the least you could do is provide the .9.10 version in with all dependencies rolled up into a tarball. Using a command line program gets problematic when you have many tapes to transfer. All those powerful features are useless if you can't get your content into the program.
