I can confirm this. There are more ways to make the mis-rendering go away (temporarily), e.g., moving to a different page. ~ okular --version Qt: 4.8.7 KDE: 4.14.14 Okular: 0.23.2 (from today's Debian testing, using the MATE desktop) This happens for me as well, under the same conditions, i.e. recompiling a document in LaTex. Okular reports version 0.24.0, KDE development platform 4.14.16. The system is on KDE Frameworks 5.18, KDE Apps 15.12.1 and Plasma 5.5.3.
