If this update does not fix it, please tell me. I've updated the package to version 15.12.0-2 however I cannot open the file here: https://goo.gl/LDoaJ7 Confirming. Ark 15.12 assign higher priority to mimetypes detected by content. However, for some reasons, shared-mime-info detects this archive as PDF. I will report this bug upstream, but in the meantime Ark could fallback to the mimetype detected from the extension, which is going to be RAR as expected. I forgot to ask you: can you describe exactly how was this RAR archive created? It might also be a fault of the program used to create the archive... It is a very old archive I don't remember how it was created but probably an old version of WinRAR might be used. If Ark would have done so, this bug would not have been discovered and the shared-mime-info devs could not have fixed it. For now, I'm marking this as resolved upstream.
