Looks bad, not seen this before. What type of VM are you using? If you press alt+space do you get krunner on top? From that if you type "kquitapp5 plasmashell" that reveals all the windows? Do those windows have the normal close buttons and such on top? Created attachment 96064 [details]

Yes, that command does show me the proper windows, with menu bar & buttons. I managed to take a screencap before Plasma restarted itself.
