Description Michi 2015-12-09 15:50:57 UTC
When I enter the address field and start typing some characters, there are no suggestions.

At some stage I realised that when I type in at least 1 or 2 characters, delete them again using backspace, and then trying to type the characters anew, then autocompletion starts working.

Reproducible: Always

I confirm it.
I will investigate it

* No autocompletion for addresses in kaddressbook *

* No autocompletion for adresses in stored emails *
This is called "baloo search", but as far as I know, the code is not connected to baloo any more
Search in stored Emails also doesn't work, so no addresses are available

* Autocompletion for recent adresses *
only works for some of the mailadresses, can't see a logic why some are shown, many others not.

Kubuntu 16.04. (preRelease)
KDE Applications 15.12.
Kmail 5.1.1
Comment 3 Ingo Steuwer 2016-06-02 14:16:00 UTC
For me autocompletion works only for the recently used addresses, not for my Carddav addressbook. Seen on:

* Linux Mint KDE with kdepim package version 4:4.14.3-0ubuntu1
* Kubuntu 16.04 stock packages
* Kubuntu 16.04 backport packages, kdepim-runtime version 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu1

The workaround described here doesn't work for me.

I noticed that there are some Bug reports here that are related or might even be duplicates:

This seems to be a duplicate of bug 357670
Comment 5 Michi 2016-08-08 13:09:41 UTC
just recently I realized that auto-completion started to work again as expected.
I can't make out any particular reason, but I have Qt 5.7.1 and a very fresh snapshot of the fleet of KDE software/libraries, provided by the openSUSE build servers.
Comment 6 Andreas Sturmlechner 2016-08-08 21:47:09 UTC
Solution is likely the update to Applications/16.08 branch, it works with Qt-5.6.1 as well.
