Sentry Crash Report:

Description gerd.muncke 2015-11-04 04:42:34 UTC
I'm running opensuse 13.2 on a Medion Akoya Model E7416. While I have no problems to run any scanning backend on older computers no scanning is possible with any of the backends I've tried i.e. Kooka, xsane, scanlite. However, the symptoms vary. While Kooka recognizes the scanner and opens the GUI (although very slowly), xsane reports ' no scanner found' and scanlite similarly.
When I select a preview scan in Kooka it reacts on the screen without the scanner giving the familiar sound when warming up. xsane does not open its GUI but does so when I disconnect the scanner.
lsusb reports the scanner. There is no difference in behaviour between USB 2 and USB 3 ports.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Scanner is running and connected. Start Kooka
2.Window with name of the detected scanner shows up (Epson Perfection 1260Photo
3. Kooka is building up but it takes at least a minute before the 'Scan', 'Preview' buttons appear
4. Pressing 'Preview' or 'Scan' blocks the screen but nothing is happening
5. After about a minute the screen is active again but nothing has happened

Actual Results:
The scanner hasn't worked, no preview available, no scanned image available

Expected Results:
It should have started the scanner and produced a preview or an image.
