Description tamius.han 2015-10-13 11:18:56 UTC
I have one vertical panel, which is located on the left side of the monitor. When using a secondary monitor, the panel is on the outer edge, not between the monitors.

Panel becomes visible under certain circumstances:
  * often: immediately after login
  * always: for some time after login whenever launching a program (mostly with krunner) (but only if the program opens on the monitor with the panel)
  * sometimes: seemingly completely random

The panel then remains visible forever or until you re-trigger the panel by hitting its monitor edge with a mouse cursor.

This issue consistently happens after login, but seems to stop after some time (assumingly after a sleep cycle).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login to a new plasma session
2. Open a program with krunner (program must open on the screen with the autohide panel)

Actual Results:
Autohide panel becomes visible

Expected Results:
Autohide panel remains hidden.

Can you run:

 xprop -spy and click on the panel

Then attach a log, ideally annotating when you're opening this window

I have seen this too, with horizontal auto-hide panel. I thought it had something to do with the Plasma::Dialog appearing for a split second in taskbar (bug 332024) and TM just lagging behind. But I'm not so sure about that and cannot reproduce it reliably.

Also bug 352278.

I apologize for not following up sooner, since this bug was seemingly fixed for a while.

It still happens though (in 5.6.3), but it seems to be mostly caused by disabling/re-enabling kwin_x11. Mouse is nowhere near the edge, but the panel will become visible and won't hide until I move the mouse over. It doesn't matter if the app is fullscreen or windowed. It only popped up recently since kwin now apparently allows some programs to disable compositing.

In attachment, there's the output of xprop -spy. I've annotated where panel gets visible — that's lines which start with a few ####.
