I couldn't reconnect to this VPN server, so the problem might have been caused by the server going offline. But plasma-nm still should show the actual status. This bug might be related to bug 348214. Plasma-nm doesn't create or activate VPN connections itself, this all is based on NetworkManager information. I'm pretty sure if you check NM you will see there is in fact active VPN connection. For curiosity, attach please output from "nmcli -f all connection show". Sorry, I didn't see your comment until now. I will post that once it happens again. It happens regularly by the way. Ping? Could you please attach the required output if this is still happening? Cannot reproduce. Given the issue is pretty old and many things has changed since then I'm closing now this bug.
