OR, a much better idea for managing text fields with the mouse, would be to remove the editing of text fields by mouse-clicking all together! And instead have the text fields somewhere in the clip properties menu/tabs (maybe even create their own tab called "Edit Details", where the user could edit the name, date, and description details there. I really feel that would make the interaction a LOT easier, and solve the rather difficult conundrum of how to handle the text fields specifically in the Project Bin. Then, with that route taken, you could treat the text field behavior the same as the clip icon, and give it the exact same mouse functions, simplifying the Project Bin behavior for the user even more! I feel that'd be a really streamlined and intuitive route, and even follows suit with the clip properties purpose in the first place: to edit the clip's properties, you know? :) This would also resolve a bug I reported a while back: Bug 351712 (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351712) I would still like to have double clicks for editing ... because this is existing with what I can do in many other applications, not least file managers. However, I totally agree that this has to be consistent ... which currently is not. |
