This should work fine. Are you sure you really use Plasma5's configuration tool, systemsettings5 ("Configure Desktop" below "Settings" in the application menu )? The KDE4 settings (systemsettings, "Configure KDE4 Applications") do not apply to Plasma5. You might have an old entry in the "Favorites". I must confess I was using the "Keyboard" applet although when accessing as you mention above using systemsettings5 the settings are identical - i.e. the correct layout is displayed. FWIW I noticed that during the install process - this is a clean install of OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE as the default - that despite choosing the correct keyboard layout, the English US layout was applied. So this is actually a bug in the "keyboard" applet? When systemsettings5 displays the correct layout, is this after login when the layout settings are not applied correctly, or is this after you changed the layout for the running session? It might be the "Keyboard" applet that sets a wrong layout on login. That said, are you *really* using KDE's keyboard layout changer or KDE's "Keyboard" applet? Or is this rather ibus? I have heard of similar reports with ibus. Try to uninstall it, and see if setting the layout works then. > FWIW I noticed that during the install process - this is a clean install of > OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE as the default - that despite choosing the > correct keyboard layout, the English US layout was applied. That's a bug in the openSUSE Tumbleweed installer, unrelated to KDE. You should be able to change the system layout in the running system with YaST->Hardware->System Keyboard Layout though (although I'm not sure whether this works correctly for all layouts at the moment in Tumbleweed). It also installs only the english translations, even if you select a different language during installation. If you can provide the information requested in comment #3, please add it. Moving this over to the keyboard status applet and then marking it as needs info - there's some outstanding questions. See my previous comment. No response, changing status. |
