which okular version are you using? Okular v 0.22.2 Can you write some arabic so i can use it to rename one of my files? How do you open the file? from konsole? from dolphin? from okular itself? from somewhere else? ok here is an example: هذا مثال I open the file by double-click in dolphin Does it work if you open it from okular->file open? If I open it from okular it works fine Which kdelibs version do you have installed? Smells like a duplicate of 343380 kdelibs 4.14.10-1 kdelibs4support 5.13.0-1 I think it's an error related to dolphin, I can't open any file (music, image...) named in arabic or with accented letters like é or à... Which dolphin version are you using? dolphin v15.04.0 with kde plasma 5.3.2 Manjaro KDE-Next 2015.08 Kernel 4.1.6-1-Manjaro I just installed Manjaro KDE-Next 2015.08 in a virtual box machine, downloaded a random pdf from the itnernet, renamed to the arabic name you say and was able to open it just fine from dolphin. Sorry but unless i can reproduce it there's no way we can fix it. I think the problem is in your local settings. try to add your country locale, see this link for more information: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Locale Bug 358289 might describe the same issue. (In reply to Michael Weghorn from comment #15) > Bug 358289 might describe the same issue. That one has been closed as "Resolved" now. Is the problem that Okular can't open PDFs with Arabic names still present or is that problem gone now as well? In case the problem is still present: What distribution and what version are you using now (still Manjaro KDE-Next 2015.08?)? What is the output of the command 'locale'? Using Kubuntu 17.04 Okular 1.0.3 there is no problem opening files with Arabic names for me. Tested both by renaming an existing PDF to arabic and generating one through LibreOffice.
