I had my database checked with Valentina Studio 5, and no problems are reported.  Also:  I started using (a copy of) the same database with Ubuntu, and that works fine.  So I think the database as such is not the problem.
Yes, I have seen this:  http://www.sqlite.org/lockingv3.html (reported in this bug:  https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342313)
But wouldn't know what to do with it.  (My capacities are limited for digging into real technical stuff.)

I don't get that message anymore - only the message about the locked database file. 
Doesn't that mean it's okay now?

And if not:  how do I install it?  (I have VLC installed, but guess that's not enough?  Reinstall?  Anything with KDE? (but that's part of the Windows installer?).

the VLC plugin must be included into windows installer. It's a shared dll typically.

But when I try to open 'Multimedia', the settings manager... keeps hanging... :-)

So there might be hope ;-)

Btw:  VLC and Amarok work fine, so there must be a very specifik reason why Digikam doesn't connect to phonon.

With next digiKam 5.0.0, we will provide a Windows version where this problem
do not exist anymore, Since KIOSlaves have been dropped from digiKam.

Note : 64 bits installer is broken. Solution is found. New 64 bits installer will be updated tomorrow morning (it take 3h00 to cross compile under Linux)
