Description Istvan Gabor 2014-12-14 17:33:52 UTC
Current krusader 2.x does not offer option "preserve attributes" for copying files/directories. (In Krusader 1.x there was such an option.) The result is a that Krusader, when copying, always sets the user and group name/ID of the created files/directories to the user's UID/GID who runs krusader. It is not possible to preserve the original UID/GID during copy. Preserving original UID/GID is especially wanted when root runs krusader and copies files/directories of different users (for example copying between different OS's home partitions). Currently krusader sets the copied files' owner to root, and the ownership must be restored separately afterwards.
I consider this behavior is a regression compared to that in Krusader 1.x (for KDE3).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Copy a file belonging to a different user.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The copied file's ownber becomes the current user.

Expected Results:
The copied file's owner should be the owner of the original file.

The program should preserve ownerships.

Hello,

Under Kubuntu 21.04 I have copied files with a root mode Krusader, and the UID (and GID) of the copied files are the same as the ones of the original files.

Is your problem solved?
