(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: konqueror
Version: KDE 2.2.1
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

I really want to have support for managing ACLS on supportive filesystems besides standard UNIX permissions in the property sheets for files/folders. This is needed in order to compete with Windows NT successfully.

Maybe I can help out in developing such a beast: I have experience in C++ and a bit of the object model of KDE (not the KParts component model). Contact me if you feel you need help.

AFAIK this is already implemented.
It gets activated only if you have sys/acl.h and libposix1e.
I doubt this is standard on Mandrake so you'd have to install those and
recompile kdelibs by hand.
The support for this was developed on FreeBSD I have no idea if it works
on Linux. To look into the code in case of problems it's in
kdelibs/kfile/acl_prop_page/.

Can you point to a screen shot of ACLs? Is this implementation compatible with
the SGI XFS filesystem? If it is it should work flawlessly on Mandrake since
XFS is supported. The thing is I don\'t have mandrake 8.1 yet (i\'m waiting for
the boxes to ship).

Good luck and thanks for the amazing work you and your teammates have done in
besting the competition (GNOME and Windows) with KDE.
