Will this be fixed?

KDE has always been the more customizable desktop than anything else. Will KDE 5 really abandon this legacy?

It would really be helpful to be able to place popups like the krunner window or upcoming messages to a place that fits the layout of a users desktop - where to get messages, where to search should be the choice of the individual user.

thx for reading, piedro

I'm joining the people who want this bug to be fixed.
Also when I have two displays connected (lcd+notebook) and configured when external monitor is above notebook's display, krunner's window sometimes shows as a thin strip on top of notebook's screen. It happens when the mouse cursor is at notebook's display (I have plasma configured when active display is the one where the cursor is now) and krunner's window wants to be drawn on top of active screen. But because of active screen consists of two displays and active one is below the second I can see a conflict of choosing a placement position. When the mouse cursor is at upper display krunner's window draws on top of it.
Voting for this bug to be fixed.
I want to have ability for moving it's window as it was in KDE4.
P.S. sorry for my English ;)

THis really concerns me:

How does it happen that after one and a half year a bug with duplicates and many supporters hasn't even got the attention of any developer?

Everywhere, in the Kde forums, in the Arch forums and on Reddit we, enthusiastic and ambitious users, are told: "Please file a bug report!", "Have you checked the bug reports...", "Things can't get fixed without you filing a report!", "KDE needs to get use case results for bug hunting"...

If these statements are true It should be a matter of respect for users to at least acknowledge the effort to contribute. No one here expects immediate responses or any guarantee for fixing. But what about some clarification or basic information on the issue? Even a "Can't do it at the moment, kind a busy..." would be better than this...

It takes time and effort to report bugs. If you don't know where exactly to post it you even risk for it not get read anytime soon at all. And last but not least, at least for me, it wears down any enthusiasm for being part of a community, for the KDE project and open software as a whole.

One and a half year of blunt silence for something that's bothering people is simple impolite.
Who is working on krunner? Do we really ask too much when asking for a 2 minute comment after 18 month?

I wouldn't write ranting here if this bug here was just a single incidence.
Sadly, at least from my experience, it is not.

I truly understand the personal mentality of "take it as is or leave it" if someone has already put a lot effort into developing or fixing a project. Though I strongly believe KDE as organisation should aim for higher standards.

I doubt that many users will keep up on reporting bugs over and over again, if no one cares - why bother?

thanks for reading,

There is a way to reposition the window:

Bug 336816 - Krunner can be moved using alt+leftclick

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336816

The only problem is that this position does not get saved when the krunner window closes and restored when it opens the next time.
Comment 9 Rog131 2016-12-29 10:00:27 UTC
A workaround

The KRunner (window) will follow the KDE window rules - KDE System Settings > Window Management > Window Rules.

An example: http://superuser.com/questions/906983/how-can-i-change-the-screen-position-of-krunner-in-kde-plasma-5-x
Comment 10 Lukas Ba. 2016-12-29 18:04:15 UTC
The workaround works well. Set the KDE window rule to "Remember", then you can move the krunner window using alt+leftclick, and will pop up at this position the next time.
Comment 11 Lukas Ba. 2016-12-29 18:11:30 UTC
I suggest that an icon-sized area be added to the krunner bar, which can be clicked to drag around the krunner window, similar to moving windows by clicking and dragging their titlebar. This is more obvious than the alt+leftclick keyboard shortcut.
It could be placed left or right of the close/settings icon.

Hello! All workarounds not work with multimonitor system. Because position has x coordinate more then your monitor resolution. Krunner not start on active monitor(focused).

I think this is fixed?

I can move krunner with the inner window move action (system settings -> window settings -> actions -> Window Actions, I have Alt+MMB set to "Move").
Comment 14 Nate Graham 2018-02-11 03:00:15 UTC
I'm guessing the request is for an *easy* way to reposition the window.

The workaround is ok enough, but the style of krunner is still for top-of-the-screen, which doesn't have shadow at the top. It doesn't look very nice.
