opensuse 13.1 , digikam 3.5

ptp, mtp

in import window there is a feature to copy file to camera

i click to the icon "sending"
then
i choose a photo to copy
then
i click on samsund gp-i9105p/ folder
then
the contents is not displayed
then
i can't copy the photo

it's a regression
in the past
i send a bug report
this was fixed
and now it comes again

This can be a dysfunction into GPhoto2 driver.

In all case, please try again using last 4.0.0-beta2 where a lots of improvements and fixes have been done.

how to try 4.0 beta with opensuse 13.1 without destroying  my general setup and my digikam 3.5 ?

install a Virtual Machine (As VirtualBox), install a new linux machine and setup host computer to share USB with virtual computer. On Virtual Machine, compile and install 4.0.0-beta2 (or code from git/master).

Are yu sure that camera device is not mounted by another application automatically (automount). A similar problem has been discovered in bug #363978

Else, your console backtrace do not show the real problem, only the side effects.

it's not a camera
i use my smartphone samsung GT-I9105P to test ptp and mtp

with digikam 4.14.0 with mtp there is no freeze
i can select the file to copy
then
i can select "/" of the smartphone
i can't go further because i can't display subfolders of "/"

with digikam 5.2 same behaviuor as 4.14.0

another bug for 5.4: smartphone is not autodetected
