example page which triggers the bug
This has nothing to do with bug 325935. The embedded part if it is set as load on demand should show a button that says "click to load" of something to that effect. If that is not visible unless you scroll or resize the page, then that is a bug. I cannot reproduce. We already have test case for embedded PDF documents. See https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/base/kwebkitpart/repository/revisions/master/entry/tests/embed_tag_test.html So my question is this the same as bug 325940? That is do you load plugin on demand enabled? The problem happens even if I disable loading plugins on demand only. If I enable loading plugins on demand only, the plugin does not appear even when I click on the Start Plugin button, only if I scroll the page. (First I have to scroll the page to make the button appear too, that's what I reported in Bug 325935.) (In reply to comment #3) > See > https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/base/kwebkitpart/repository/ > revisions/master/entry/tests/embed_tag_test.html This page triggers the bug too. The bug appears in rekonq too so the problem is likely in kparts. Well then something else is going on because I just tried with load plugin on demand turned on and I get the start plugin button. Upon clicking on the button, the part is properly embedded into the page. Do you by any chance have "nspluginwrapper" installed on your system? If so does removing that help? Removing nspluginwrapper does not change anything. (The file types in question weren't associated with it anyway.) (In reply to comment #9) > Removing nspluginwrapper does not change anything. (The file types in > question weren't associated with it anyway.) Then try removing the other culprit: mozplugger! It is one of those two plugins that always causes problems. I don't have mozplugger. (At least I have no file on my system whose name contains mozplugger, nor any package.) (In reply to comment #11) > I don't have mozplugger. (At least I have no file on my system whose name > contains mozplugger, nor any package.) Can you then please check what nsplugins are installed on your system that Konqueror picks up? You can check by looking under Settings->Configure Konqueror->Web Browsing-> Plugins-> Plugins tab. /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-qt.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-rm.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-wmp.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/javaplugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-cone-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-mully-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.nppdf.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/packagekit-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/skypebuttons.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/xineplugin.so (In reply to comment #13) > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-qt.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-rm.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-wmp.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/javaplugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-cone-plugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-mully-plugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.nppdf.so So what is this? A pdf nsplugin wrapper?? Whatever you said you removed did not quite remove this. Unless you installed things manually. I suggest you remove the wrapper and click on "Scan for plugins" in this dialog again before testing. If this plugin is present you are going to have the same problem. > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/packagekit-plugin.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/skypebuttons.so > /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/xineplugin.so That's because I reinstalled it since then. Now I removed it again, and the browser-plugin directory looks like this: /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-qt.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-rm.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer-wmp.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/javaplugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-cone-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-mully-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/packagekit-plugin.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/skypebuttons.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/xineplugin.so Now I don't even have a Plugins page in the configuration window. The problem still persists. (It also persisted when I had the nsplugins installed but I removed the directory containing them from the plugin folder list so Konqueror didn't see any plugins.) Anyway, is it normal if a netscape plugin causes problems like this even though pdf files are configured to be embedded with the okular part, not the netscape plugin part?
