nvidia problem ? Well, that's likely: I've got a new GTX760 running the binary blob (325.15) from rpmfusion-rawhide-fc20 repository, and some applications (tvtime: sometimes blocking effect) and games (machineball: unstable framerate) show odd behaviour. Even using the opensource nouveau drivers, so it appears to be something related with the new Kepler nvidia cards. I must say that this bug is rather uncommon, in total, it happened twice in two weeks. Created attachment 82123 [details]

plasma-desktop (4.11.2) on KDE Platform 4.11.2 using Qt 4.8.5
I have more or less the same problem: a random crash of the plasma-desktop after some time. In my case it is not 4 days but more regular, anywhere between 4 minutes after startup to 4 hours or 2 days. I have not yet been able to run the system for much more than that because after a day or two the grapghical desktop crashes (no longer responds to keybord or mouse). Login from terminal is then still possible (and I see Xorg at 100% CPU) and locally Alt+SysRq R+E+I+S+U+B works but that's all. I also have NVidea GTX 760 card with binary drivers and heavily suspect it is related to that. I'm running the stock kernel for openSUSE 12.3.

Removing elmer_o@yahoo.com from CC list per abuse report. Crash is caused by NVIDIA binary driver. Please upgrade/downgrade it, and/or report it to NVIDIA developers. You could also try Open Source drivers, for 2D/office work, they should be sufficient. *** Bug 326809 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
