- What I was doing when the application crashed:i was running bitbleach to clean up the cache files in my home directory. everything was checked for bleach except memory. bitbleash ran, finished, displayed space gain, errors during exicutions etc. but just prior to exit and during the bitbleach cleanup? this crash took place.

short answer: do not use bleachbit to "clean up" KDE caches.
