This is one feature which is keeping me from using Kmail. I use Thunderbird and it's extremely easy there to save your folder/settings wherever you want. I have saved my mails on an encrypted external hard-drive and I don't have to worry about hopping/switching between the distros or formatting my system as all I need is run ./thunderbird -p and then point to the directory where mails/settings are saved and it takes all accounts/settings/pligins automatically. With over 30GB mail I really can't afford to not do this. I think Kmail can make it easier to manage mail/settings/plugins. Just an update that seems current backup/restore is also not working properly so it needs a revamp to add proper full backup/restore features. I just backed up from opensuse 12.2 having 4.10 and tried to restore on new 12.3 installation with kde 4.10.1 and it didn't work. Had to create account from scratch and download all mails again! Its been 2 days and still full download is not finished. |
