Actually, perhaps it had not been deleted... maybe I was thinking about my other bug mentioning gradients. Sorry; even though KDE4 is stable now with lots of new features, I miss many things about KDE3 and would still use it if my distro had it... I am even trying to build TDE and will likely switch to that if KDE4 does not return most/all of the old features/options. It's now five years since the introduction of Plasma. If nobody came around to implement the feature it's unlikely to happen. A generic "like in KDE 3" does not help. I don't remember such a feature from KDE 3, it's a long time. The wallpaper infrastructure is very flexible, just look at e.g. the animated wallpapers available in 4.10. I'm quite sure that the community would have implemented a wallpaper plugin in the way you wanted it, if there would have been demands for it. But after five years it's pretty clear that nobody cares. After all it's open source, you can implement it yourself. Btw. putting in "threats" like "switch to Trinity if you don't implement everything like it used to be" don't help you anything - nobody is impressed by that. |
